LAMENTATIONS 2 1 How hath the LORD covered the daughter of Zion with A cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger! 3 He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like A flaming fire, which devoureth round about. 6 And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of A garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. 7 The LORD hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made A noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of A solemn feast. 8 The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out A line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together. 18 Their heart cried unto the LORD, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like A river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease. 20 Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of A span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? 22 Thou hast called as in A solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD's anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed. LAMENTATIONS 3 10 He was unto me as A bear lying in wait, and as A lion in secret places. 12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as A mark for the arrow. 14 I was A derision to all my people; and their song all the day. 26 It is good that A man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. 27 It is good for A man that he bear the yoke of his youth. 35 To turn aside the right of A man before the face of the most High, 36 To subvert A man in his cause, the LORD approveth not. 39 Wherefore doth A living man complain, A man for the punishment of his sins? 44 Thou hast covered thyself with A cloud, that our prayer should not pass through. 47 Fear and A snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction. 52 Mine enemies chased me sore, like A bird, without cause. 53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast A stone upon me. 64 Render unto them A recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands. LAMENTATIONS 4 6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in A moment, and no hands stayed on her. 8 Their visage is blacker than A coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like A stick. 11 The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled A fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof. 17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for A nation that could not save us. EZEKIEL 1 4 And I looked, and, behold, A whirlwind came out of the north, A great cloud, and A fire infolding itself, and A brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of A man. 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of A calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. 8 And they had the hands of A man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. 10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of A man, and the face of A lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of A flash of lightning. 16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of A beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were A wheel in the middle of A wheel. 25 And there was A voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of A throne, as the appearance of A sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of A man above upon it. 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard A voice of one that spake. EZEKIEL 2 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to A rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. 5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are A rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been A prophet among them. 6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be A rebellious house. 9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, A roll of A book was therein; EZEKIEL 3 5 For thou art not sent to A people of A strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; 6 Not to many people of A strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee. 9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be A rebellious house. 12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me A voice of A great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place. 13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and A noise of A great rushing. 17 Son of man, I have made thee A watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 20 Again, When A righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay A stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 26 And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them A reprover: for they are A rebellious house. 27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are A rebellious house. EZEKIEL 4 1 Thou also, son of man, take thee A tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem: 2 And lay siege against it, and build A fort against it, and cast A mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about. 3 Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for A wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be A sign to the house of Israel. 6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for A year. 10 And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels A day: from time to time shalt thou eat it. --MORE-- |
