HOSEA 14 8 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like A green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. JOEL 1 6 For A nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of A lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of A great lion. 8 Lament like A virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. 14 Sanctify ye A fast, call A solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD, 15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as A destruction from the Almighty shall it come. JOEL 2 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, A day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: A great people and A strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them A flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them A desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of A flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as A strong people set in battle array. 9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like A thief. 14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave A blessing behind him; even A meat offering and A drink offering unto the LORD your God? 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify A fast, call A solemn assembly: 19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you A reproach among the heathen: 20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into A land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things. JOEL 3 3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given A boy for an harlot, and sold A girl for wine, that they might drink. 4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me A recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; 8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to A people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and A fountain shall come forth out of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 19 Egypt shall be A desolation, and Edom shall be A desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. AMOS 1 4 But I will send A fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. 7 But I will send A fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: 10 But I will send A fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. 12 But I will send A fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. 14 But I will kindle A fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with A tempest in the day of the whirlwind: AMOS 2 2 But I will send A fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: 5 But I will send A fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. 6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for A pair of shoes; 7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and A man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name: 13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as A cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. AMOS 3 4 Will A lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will A young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? 5 Can A bird fall in A snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up A snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? 6 Shall A trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in A city, and the LORD hath not done it? 12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or A piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of A bed, and in Damascus in A couch. AMOS 4 5 And offer A sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. 11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as A firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. AMOS 5 1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even A lamentation, O house of Israel. 3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by A thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. 12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take A bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right. 19 As if A man did flee from A lion, and A bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and A serpent bit him. 24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as A mighty stream. AMOS 6 10 And A man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD. 13 Ye which rejoice in A thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? 14 But, behold, I will raise up against you A nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. AMOS 7 4 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up A part. 7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the LORD stood upon A wall made by A plumbline, with A plumbline in his hand. 8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the LORD, Behold, I will set A plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: 14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I A prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and A gatherer of sycomore fruit: 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in A polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land. AMOS 8 1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold A basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more. 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for A pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as A flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as A bitter day. 11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send A famine in the land, not A famine of bread, nor A thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: --MORE-- |
