DEUTERONOMY 32 17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your FATHERS feared not. JOSHUA 1 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their FATHERS to give them. JOSHUA 4 6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their FATHERS in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? 21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their FATHERS in time to come, saying, What mean these stones? JOSHUA 5 6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their FATHERS that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey. JOSHUA 8 5 And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will FLEE before them, 6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They FLEE before us, as at the first: therefore we will FLEE before them. 20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to FLEE this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers. JOSHUA 14 1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the FATHERS of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them. JOSHUA 18 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your FATHERS hath given you? JOSHUA 19 51 These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the FATHERS of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country. JOSHUA 20 3 That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may FLEE thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. 4 And when he that doth FLEE unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. 9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might FLEE thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. JOSHUA 21 1 Then came near the heads of the FATHERS of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the FATHERS of the tribes of the children of Israel; 43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their FATHERS; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their FATHERS: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. JOSHUA 22 14 And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their FATHERS among the thousands of Israel. 28 Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our FATHERS made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you. JOSHUA 24 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your FATHERS dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. 6 And I brought your FATHERS out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your FATHERS with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea. 14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your FATHERS served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your FATHERS served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. 17 For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our FATHERS out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: JUDGES 2 1 And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your FATHERS; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their FATHERS: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their FATHERS, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. 17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their FATHERS walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so. 19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their FATHERS, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. 20 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their FATHERS, and have not hearkened unto my voice; 22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their FATHERS did keep it, or not. JUDGES 3 4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their FATHERS by the hand of Moses. JUDGES 6 13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our FATHERS told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. 37 Behold, I will put a FLEECE of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the FLEECE only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the FLEECE together, and wringed the dew out of the FLEECE, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the FLEECE; let it now be dry only upon the FLEECE, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the FLEECE only, and there was dew on all the ground. JUDGES 20 32 And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us FLEE, and draw them from the city unto the highways. JUDGES 21 22 And it shall be, when their FATHERS or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty. 1 SAMUEL 12 6 And Samuel said unto the people, It is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your FATHERS up out of the land of Egypt. 7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your FATHERS. 8 When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your FATHERS cried unto the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your FATHERS out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place. 15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your FATHERS. 2 SAMUEL 4 4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to FLEE, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth. 2 SAMUEL 7 12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy FATHERS, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 2 SAMUEL 15 14 And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us FLEE; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. 2 SAMUEL 17 2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall FLEE; and I will smite the king only: 2 SAMUEL 18 3 But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we FLEE away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city. 2 SAMUEL 19 3 And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they FLEE in battle. 2 SAMUEL 24 13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou FLEE three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me. --MORE-- |
