2 CHRONICLES 32 1 After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them FOR himself. 7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed FOR the king of Assyria, nor FOR all the multitude that is with him: FOR there be more with us than with him: 15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: FOR no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand? 20 And FOR this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven. 25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; FOR his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem. 26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself FOR the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah. 27 And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries FOR silver, and FOR gold, and FOR precious stones, and FOR spices, and FOR shields, and FOR all manner of pleasant jewels; 28 Storehouses also FOR the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls FOR all manner of beasts, and cotes FOR flocks. 29 Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: FOR God had given him substance very much. 2 CHRONICLES 33 3 FOR he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars FOR Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. 4 Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be FOR ever. 5 And he built altars FOR all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. 7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name FOR ever: 8 Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed FOR your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses. 22 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: FOR Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them; 2 CHRONICLES 34 3 FOR in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images. 11 Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber FOR couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed. 21 Go, enquire of the LORD FOR me, and FOR them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: FOR great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book. 26 And as FOR the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard; 2 CHRONICLES 35 7 And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all FOR the passover offerings, FOR all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance. 8 And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests FOR the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle and three hundred oxen. 9 Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites FOR passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen. 11 And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites FLAYED them. 14 And afterward they made ready FOR themselves, and FOR the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared FOR themselves, and FOR the priests the sons of Aaron. 15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; FOR their brethren the Levites prepared FOR them. 21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: FOR God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. 23 And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; FOR I am sore wounded. 24 His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned FOR Josiah. 25 And Jeremiah lamented FOR Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations. 2 CHRONICLES 36 17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped FOR age: he gave them all into his hand. 21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: FOR as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years. EZRA 1 4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering FOR the house of God that is in Jerusalem. EZRA 2 68 And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely FOR the house of God to set it up in his place: EZRA 3 3 And they set the altar upon his bases; FOR fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening. 11 And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, FOR his mercy endureth FOR ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. 12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud FOR joy: 13 So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: FOR the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off. EZRA 4 2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: FOR we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither. 14 Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet FOR us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king; 15 That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: FOR which cause was this city destroyed. EZRA 6 8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews FOR the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered. 9 And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, FOR the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail: 10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray FOR the life of the king, and of his sons. 11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill FOR this. 17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and FOR a sin offering FOR all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. 18 And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, FOR the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses. 20 FOR the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover FOR all the children of the captivity, and FOR their brethren the priests, and FOR themselves. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: FOR the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel. EZRA 7 9 FOR upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 10 FOR Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. 16 And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly FOR the house of their God which is in Jerusalem: 19 The vessels also that are given thee FOR the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem. 20 And whatsoever more shall be needful FOR the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house. 23 Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done FOR the house of the God of heaven: FOR why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? --MORE-- |
