ECCLESIASTES 8 3 Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; FOR he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him. 7 FOR he knoweth not that which shall be: FOR who can tell him when it shall be? 15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: FOR that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. 16 When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (FOR also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) ECCLESIASTES 9 1 FOR all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them. 4 FOR to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: FOR a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 FOR the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; FOR the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion FOR ever in any thing that is done under the sun. 7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; FOR God now accepteth thy works. 9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: FOR that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; FOR there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. 12 FOR man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. ECCLESIASTES 10 1 Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation FOR wisdom and honour. 4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; FOR yielding pacifieth great offences. 17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, FOR strength, and not FOR drunkenness! 19 A feast is made FOR laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. 20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: FOR a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter. ECCLESIASTES 11 1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: FOR thou shalt find it after many days. 2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; FOR thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. 6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: FOR thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. 7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is FOR the eyes to behold the sun: 8 But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; FOR they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that FOR all these things God will bring thee into judgment. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: FOR childhood and youth are vanity. ECCLESIASTES 12 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: FOR this is the whole duty of man. 14 FOR God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. SONG OF SOLOMON 1 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: FOR thy love is better than wine. 7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: FOR why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? SONG OF SOLOMON 2 5 Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: FOR I am sick of love. 11 FOR, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; 14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; FOR sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely. 15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: FOR our vines have tender grapes. SONG OF SOLOMON 3 10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, FOR the daughters of Jerusalem. SONG OF SOLOMON 4 4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded FOR an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men. SONG OF SOLOMON 5 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: FOR my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. 4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved FOR him. SONG OF SOLOMON 6 5 Turn away thine eyes from me, FOR they have overcome me: thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead. SONG OF SOLOMON 7 6 How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, FOR delights! 9 And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine FOR my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. 13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up FOR thee, O my beloved. SONG OF SOLOMON 8 6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: FOR love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house FOR love, it would utterly be contemned. 8 We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do FOR our sister in the day when she shall be spoken FOR? 11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one FOR the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver. ISAIAH 1 2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: FOR the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead FOR the widow. 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: FOR the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 29 FOR they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded FOR the gardens that ye have chosen. 30 FOR ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. ISAIAH 2 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: FOR out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty. 12 FOR the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: 19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one FOR himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: FOR wherein is he to be accounted of ? --MORE-- |
