AMOS 7 2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? FOR he is small. 3 The LORD repented FOR this: It shall not be, saith the LORD. 5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? FOR he is small. 6 The LORD repented FOR this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD. 11 FOR thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. 13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: FOR it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court. AMOS 9 4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them FOR evil, and not FOR good. 6 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth FOR the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name. 9 FOR, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. JONAH 1 2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; FOR their wickedness is come up before me. 7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know FOR whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. 8 Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, FOR whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? 10 Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. Why hast thou done this? FOR the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. 11 Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? FOR the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. 12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: FOR I know that FOR my sake this great tempest is upon you. 13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: FOR the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. 14 Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish FOR this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: FOR thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. JONAH 2 3 FOR thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. 6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me FOR ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. JONAH 3 6 FOR word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. JONAH 4 2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: FOR I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. 3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; FOR it is better FOR me to die than to live. 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better FOR me to die than to live. 9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry FOR the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. 10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, FOR the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: MICAH 1 3 FOR, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. 5 FOR the transgression of Jacob is all this, and FOR the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? 7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: FOR she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. 9 FOR her wound is incurable; FOR it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem. 12 FOR the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully FOR good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem. 13 O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: FOR the transgressions of Israel were found in thee. 16 Make thee bald, and poll thee FOR thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; FOR they are gone into captivity from thee. MICAH 2 3 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: FOR this time is evil. 9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory FOR ever. 10 Arise ye, and depart; FOR this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. MICAH 3 1 And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not FOR you to know judgment? 3 Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as FOR the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. 7 Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; FOR there is no answer of God. 11 The heads thereof judge FOR reward, and the priests thereof teach FOR hire, and the prophets thereof divine FOR money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. 12 Therefore shall Zion FOR your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. MICAH 4 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: FOR the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: FOR the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. 5 FOR all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God FOR ever and ever. 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even FOR ever. 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? FOR pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail. 10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: FOR now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: FOR he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: FOR I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. --MORE-- |
