JOSHUA 22 14 And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their FATHERS among the thousands of Israel. 28 Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our FATHERS made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you. JOSHUA 24 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your FATHERS dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. 6 And I brought your FATHERS out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your FATHERS with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea. 14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your FATHERS served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your FATHERS served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. 17 For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our FATHERS out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: JUDGES 2 1 And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your FATHERS; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their FATHERS: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their FATHERS, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. 17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their FATHERS walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so. 19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their FATHERS, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. 20 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their FATHERS, and have not hearkened unto my voice; 22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their FATHERS did keep it, or not. JUDGES 3 4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their FATHERS by the hand of Moses. JUDGES 6 13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our FATHERS told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. 37 Behold, I will put a FLEECE of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the FLEECE only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the FLEECE together, and wringed the dew out of the FLEECE, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the FLEECE; let it now be dry only upon the FLEECE, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the FLEECE only, and there was dew on all the ground. JUDGES 20 26 Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and FASTED that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. JUDGES 21 22 And it shall be, when their FATHERS or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty. 1 SAMUEL 7 6 And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and FASTED on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh. 1 SAMUEL 12 6 And Samuel said unto the people, It is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your FATHERS up out of the land of Egypt. 7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your FATHERS. 8 When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your FATHERS cried unto the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your FATHERS out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place. 15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your FATHERS. 1 SAMUEL 28 14 And he said unto her, What FORM is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 1 SAMUEL 31 13 And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and FASTED seven days. 2 SAMUEL 1 12 And they mourned, and wept, and FASTED until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword. 2 SAMUEL 7 12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy FATHERS, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 2 SAMUEL 12 16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David FASTED, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth. 22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I FASTED and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? 2 SAMUEL 14 20 To fetch about this FORM of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth. 1 KINGS 1 21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his FATHERS, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. 1 KINGS 2 10 So David slept with his FATHERS, and was buried in the city of David. 1 KINGS 8 1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the FATHERS of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion. 21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our FATHERS, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt. 34 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their FATHERS. 40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our FATHERS. 48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their FATHERS, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name: 53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our FATHERS out of Egypt, O LORD God. 57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our FATHERS: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: 58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our FATHERS. 1 KINGS 9 9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their FATHERS out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil. 1 KINGS 11 21 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his FATHERS, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country. 43 And Solomon slept with his FATHERS, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead. 1 KINGS 13 22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy FATHERS. 1 KINGS 14 15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their FATHERS, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger. 20 And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his FATHERS, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead. 22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their FATHERS had done. 31 And Rehoboam slept with his FATHERS, and was buried with his FATHERS in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead. --MORE-- |
