And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. 14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and AN evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. 15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, AN evil spirit from God troubleth thee. 16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on AN harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. 20 And Jesse took AN ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul. 23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took AN harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. 1 SAMUEL 17 5 And he had AN helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. 8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 58 And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I AM the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite. 1 SAMUEL 18 1 And it came to pass, when he had made AN end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 18 And David said unto Saul, Who AM I? and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king? 23 And Saul's servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be a king's son in law, seeing that I AM a poor man, and lightly esteemed? 25 And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but AN hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. 1 SAMUEL 19 13 And Michal took AN image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth. 16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was AN image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster. 1 SAMUEL 20 36 And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot AN arrow beyond him. 1 SAMUEL 21 7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, AN Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. 1 SAMUEL 22 12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I AM, my lord. 1 SAMUEL 23 6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with AN ephod in his hand. 1 SAMUEL 24 16 And it came to pass, when David had made AN end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept. 1 SAMUEL 25 18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and AN hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses. 42 And Abigail hasted, and arose and rode upon AN ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife. 1 SAMUEL 26 13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of AN hill afar off; a great space being between them: 19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept AN offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods. 1 SAMUEL 28 14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, AN old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I AM sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 1 SAMUEL 29 4 And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be AN adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men? 9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as AN angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle. --MORE-- |
