SONG OF SOLOMON 3 4 It was but A little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me. 9 King Solomon made himself A chariot of the wood of Lebanon. 10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, FOR the daughters of Jerusalem. SONG OF SOLOMON 4 1 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as A flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead. 2 Thy teeth are like A flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them. 3 Thy lips are like A thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like A piece of A pomegranate within thy locks. 4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded FOR an armoury, whereon there hang A thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men. 12 A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; A spring shut up, A fountain sealed. 15 A fountain of gardens, A well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. SONG OF SOLOMON 5 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: FOR my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. 4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved FOR him. 11 His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as A raven. 13 His cheeks are as A bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. SONG OF SOLOMON 6 5 Turn away thine eyes from me, FOR they have overcome me: thy hair is as A flock of goats that appear from Gilead. 6 Thy teeth are as A flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them. 7 As A piece of A pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks. SONG OF SOLOMON 7 1 How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of A cunning workman. 2 Thy navel is like A round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies. 4 Thy neck is as A tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus. 6 How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, FOR delights! 7 This thy stature is like to A palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes. 9 And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine FOR my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. 13 The mandrakes give A smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up FOR thee, O my beloved. SONG OF SOLOMON 8 6 Set me as A seal upon thine heart, as A seal upon thine arm: FOR love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath A most vehement flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if A man would give all the substance of his house FOR love, it would utterly be contemned. 8 We have A little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do FOR our sister in the day when she shall be spoken FOR? 9 If she be A wall, we will build upon her A palace of silver: and if she be A door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar. 10 I am A wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour. 11 Solomon had A vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one FOR the fruit thereof was to bring A thousand pieces of silver. 12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have A thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred. 14 Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to A roe or to A young hart upon the mountains of spices. ISAIAH 1 2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: FOR the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 4 Ah sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. 8 And the daughter of Zion is left as A cottage in A vineyard, as A lodge in A garden of cucumbers, as A besieged city. 9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us A very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are A trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead FOR the widow. 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: FOR the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 29 FOR they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded FOR the gardens that ye have chosen. 30 FOR ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as A garden that hath no water. 31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as A spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them. ISAIAH 2 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: FOR out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty. 12 FOR the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: 19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 20 In that day A man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one FOR himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, FOR fear of the LORD, and FOR the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: FOR wherein is he to be accounted of ? ISAIAH 3 1 FOR, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water. 6 When A man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand: 7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; FOR in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not A ruler of the people. 8 FOR Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory. 9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! FOR they have rewarded evil unto themselves. 10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: FOR they shall eat the fruit of their doings. 11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: FOR the reward of his hands shall be given him. 12 As FOR my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. 14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: FOR ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making A tinkling with their feet: 17 Therefore the LORD will smite with A scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of A girdle A rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of A stomacher A girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. --MORE-- |
