ISAIAH 8 1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee A great roll, and write in it with A man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. 3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare A son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz. 4 FOR before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria. 10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: FOR God is with us. 11 FOR the LORD spake thus to me with A strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. 14 And he shall be FOR A sanctuary; but FOR A stone of stumbling and FOR A rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, FOR A gin and FOR A snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look FOR him. 18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are FOR signs and FOR wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. 19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not A people seek unto their God? FOR the living to the dead? ISAIAH 9 2 The people that walked in darkness have seen A great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. 4 FOR thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. 5 FOR every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. 6 FOR unto us A child is born, unto us A son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even FOR ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. 8 The Lord sent A word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel. 12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. FOR all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 13 FOR the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts. 16 FOR the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. 17 Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: FOR every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. FOR all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 18 FOR wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke. 21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. FOR all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. ISAIAH 10 3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee FOR help? and where will ye leave your glory? 4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. FOR all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him A charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not A few. 8 FOR he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 13 FOR he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; FOR I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like A valiant man: 14 And my hand hath found as A nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. 16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle A burning like the burning of A fire. 17 And the light of Israel shall be FOR A fire, and his Holy One FOR A flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; 18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when A standard-bearer fainteth. 19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that A child may write them. 22 FOR though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet A remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. 23 FOR the Lord GOD of hosts shall make A consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land. 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with A rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. 25 FOR yet A very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. 26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up A scourge FOR him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. 34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by A mighty one. ISAIAH 11 1 And there shall come forth A rod out of the stem of Jesse, and A Branch shall grow out of his roots: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity FOR the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and A little child shall lead them. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: FOR the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be A root of Jesse, which shall stand FOR an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 12 And he shall set up an ensign FOR the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the FOUR corners of the earth. 16 And there shall be an highway FOR the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. ISAIAH 12 2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: FOR the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 5 Sing unto the LORD; FOR he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: FOR great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. ISAIAH 13 2 Lift ye up A banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones FOR mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. 4 The noise of A multitude in the mountains, like as of A great people; A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 5 They come from A far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6 Howl ye; FOR the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as A destruction from the Almighty. 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as A woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 10 FOR the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world FOR their evil, and the wicked FOR their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make A man more precious than fine gold; even A man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as A sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as FOR gold, they shall not delight in it. --MORE-- |
