ISAIAH 32 1 Behold, A king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. 2 And A man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and A covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in A dry place, as the shadow of A great rock in A weary land. 6 FOR the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 10 Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: FOR the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come. 12 They shall lament FOR the teats, FOR the pleasant fields, FOR the fruitful vine. 14 Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be FOR dens FOR ever, A joy of wild asses, A pasture of flocks; 15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be A fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted FOR A forest. 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance FOR ever. 18 And my people shall dwell in A peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; 19 When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in A low place. ISAIAH 33 2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited FOR thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and FRO of locusts shall he run upon them. 5 The LORD is exalted; FOR he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. 9 The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like A wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits. 19 Thou shalt not see A fierce people, A people of A deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of A stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand. 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem A quiet habitation, A tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. 21 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us A place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 22 FOR the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. 23 Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of A great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. ISAIAH 34 2 FOR the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as A scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as A falling fig from the fig tree. 5 FOR my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. 6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: FOR the LORD hath A sacrifice in Bozrah, and A great slaughter in the land of Idumea. 8 FOR it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences FOR the controversy of Zion. 10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up FOR ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it FOR ever and ever. 13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and A court FOR owls. 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find FOR herself A place of rest. 16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: FOR my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. 17 And he hath cast the lot FOR them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it FOR ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein. ISAIAH 35 1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad FOR them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 4 Say to them that are of A fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with A recompence; he will come and save you. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: FOR in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. 7 And the parched ground shall become A pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 8 And an highway shall be there, and A way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be FOR those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. ISAIAH 36 2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with A great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field. 5 I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength FOR war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me? 6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if A man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. 9 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt FOR chariots and FOR horsemen? 11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; FOR we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall. 13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with A loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria. 14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: FOR he shall not be able to deliver you. 16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: FOR thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by A present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern; 17 Until I come and take you away to A land like your own land, A land of corn and wine, A land of bread and vineyards. 21 But they held their peace, and answered him not A word: FOR the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not. ISAIAH 37 3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is A day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: FOR the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth. 4 It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer FOR the remnant that is left. 7 Behold, I will send A blast upon him, and he shall hear A rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. 8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: FOR he had heard that he was departed from Lachish. 18 Of A truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, 19 And have cast their gods into the fire: FOR they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. 30 And this shall be A sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof. 32 FOR out of Jerusalem shall go forth A remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this. 33 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast A bank against it. 35 FOR I will defend this city to save it FOR mine own sake, and FOR my servant David's sake. 36 Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians A hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. --MORE-- |
