MARK 12 1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted A vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged A place FOR the winefat, and built A tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into A far country. 2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen A servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. 12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: FOR they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way. 14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest FOR no man: FOR thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me A penny, that I may see it. 19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If A man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took A wife, and dying left no seed. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? FOR the seven had her to wife. 25 FOR when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: FOR there is one God; and there is none other but he: 36 FOR David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. 40 Which devour widows' houses, and FOR A pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. 42 And there came A certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make A farthing. 44 FOR all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. MARK 13 6 FOR many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: FOR such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. 8 FOR nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 But take heed to yourselves: FOR they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings FOR my sake, FOR A testimony against them. 11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: FOR it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. 13 And ye shall be hated of all men FOR my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again FOR to take up his garment. 19 FOR in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. 20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but FOR the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days. 22 FOR false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the FOUR winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. 28 Now learn A parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: FOR ye know not when the time is. 34 FOR the Son of Man is as A man taking A far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye therefore: FOR ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: MARK 14 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came A woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 5 FOR it might have been sold FOR more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought A good work on me. 7 FOR ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of FOR A memorial of her. 13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you A man bearing A pitcher of water: follow him. 15 And he will shew you A large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready FOR us. 21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it FOR that man if he had never been born. 24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed FOR many. 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: FOR it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 32 And they came to A place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. 35 And he went forward A little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (FOR their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him. 43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him A great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 And he that betrayed him had given them A token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. 47 And one of them that stood by drew A sword, and smote A servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against A thief, with swords and with staves to take me? 51 And there followed him A certain young man, having A linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: 55 And the chief priests and all the council sought FOR witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. 56 FOR many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. 69 And A maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. 70 And he denied it again. And A little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: FOR thou art A Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. --MORE-- |
