HOSEA 6 1 Come, AND let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, AND he will heal us; he hath smitten, AND he will bind us up. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, AND we shall live in his sight. 3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; AND he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter AND former rain unto the earth. 4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, AND as the early dew it goeth away. 5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: AND thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. 6 For I desired mercy, AND not sacrifice; AND the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. 8 Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, AND is polluted with blood. 9 AND as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness. HOSEA 7 1 When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, AND the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; AND the thief cometh in, AND the troop of robbers spoileth without. 2 AND they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face. 3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, AND the princes with their lies. 7 They are all hot as an oven, AND have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me. 9 Strangers have devoured his strength, AND he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here AND there upon him, yet he knoweth not. 10 AND the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: AND they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this. 14 AND they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn AND wine, AND they rebel against me. 15 Though I have bound AND strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me. HOSEA 8 1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, AND trespassed against my law. 4 They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, AND I knew it not: of their silver AND their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off. 7 For they have sown the wind, AND they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. 10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, AND they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes. 13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, AND eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, AND visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt. 14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, AND buildeth temples; AND Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, AND it shall devour the palaces thereof. HOSEA 9 2 The floor AND the winepress shall not feed them, AND the new wine shall fail in her. 3 They shall not dwell in the LORD's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, AND they shall eat unclean things in Assyria. 5 What will ye do in the solemn day, AND in the day of the feast of the LORD? 7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, AND the great hatred. 8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, AND hatred in the house of his God. 10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, AND separated themselves unto that shame; AND their abominations were according as they loved. 11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, AND from the womb, AND from the conception. 14 Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb AND dry breasts. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: AND they shall be wanderers among the nations. HOSEA 10 5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, AND the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. 6 It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, AND Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. 8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn AND the thistle shall come up on their altars; AND they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; AND to the hills, Fall on us. 10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; AND the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows. 11 AND Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, AND loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, AND Jacob shall break his clods. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come AND rain righteousness upon you. 14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, AND all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children. HOSEA 11 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, AND called my son out of Egypt. 2 As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, AND burned incense to graven images. 4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: AND I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, AND I laid meat unto them. 5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, AND the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return. 6 AND the sword shall abide on his cities, AND shall consume his branches, AND devour them, because of their own counsels. 7 AND my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, AND not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: AND I will not enter into the city. 11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, AND as a dove out of the land of Assyria: AND I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD. 12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, AND the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, AND is faithful with the saints. HOSEA 12 1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, AND followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies AND desolation; AND they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, AND oil is carried into Egypt. 2 The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, AND will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him. 3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, AND by his strength he had power with God: 4 Yea, he had power over the angel, AND prevailed: he wept, AND made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, AND there he spake with us; 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy AND judgment AND wait on thy God continually. 8 AND Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin. 9 AND I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast. 10 I have also spoken by the prophets, AND I have multiplied visions, AND used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets. 12 AND Jacob fled into the country of Syria, AND Israel served for a wife, AND for a wife he kept sheep. 13 AND by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, AND by a prophet was he preserved. 14 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, AND his reproach shall his LORD return unto him. --MORE-- |
