JEREMIAH 48 14 How say ye, We ARE mighty and strong men for the war? 15 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men ARE gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts. 17 All ye that ARE about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod! 32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants ARE gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage. 36 Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he hath gotten ARE perished. 41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds ARE surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. 46 Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons ARE taken captives, and thy daughters captives. JEREMIAH 49 23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they ARE fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that ARE in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD. JEREMIAH 50 2 Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols ARE confounded, her images ARE broken in pieces. 11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye ARE grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls; 15 Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations ARE fallen, her walls ARE thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. 37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that ARE in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. 38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they ARE mad upon their idols. 42 They shall hold the bow and the lance: they ARE cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon. JEREMIAH 51 4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that ARE thrust through in her streets. 7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations ARE mad. 18 They ARE vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. 30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars ARE broken. 32 And that the passages ARE stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war ARE affrighted. 43 Her cities ARE a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby. 51 We ARE confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers ARE come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house. 56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men ARE taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite. 60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that ARE written against Babylon. 64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far ARE the words of Jeremiah. LAMENTATIONS 1 2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears ARE on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they ARE become her enemies. 4 The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates ARE desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins ARE afflicted, and she is in bitterness. 5 Her adversaries ARE the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children ARE gone into captivity before the enemy. 6 And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes ARE become like harts that find no pasture, and they ARE gone without strength before the pursuer. 14 The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they ARE wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the LORD hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up. 16 For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children ARE desolate, because the enemy prevailed. 18 The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men ARE gone into captivity. 20 Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels ARE troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death. 21 They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they ARE glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me. 22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs ARE many, and my heart is faint. LAMENTATIONS 2 9 Her gates ARE sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes ARE among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD. 11 Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels ARE troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city. 21 The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men ARE fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied. LAMENTATIONS 3 22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we ARE not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They ARE new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. LAMENTATIONS 4 1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary ARE poured out in the top of every street. 2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how ARE they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! 5 They that did feed delicately ARE desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills. 8 Their visage is blacker than a coal; they ARE not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick. 9 They that be slain with the sword ARE better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field. 18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days ARE fulfilled; for our end is come. 19 Our persecutors ARE swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness. LAMENTATIONS 5 3 We ARE orphans and fatherless, our mothers ARE as widows. 5 Our necks ARE under persecution: we labour, and have no rest. 7 Our fathers have sinned, and ARE not; and we have borne their iniquities. 12 Princes ARE hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured. 17 For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes ARE dim. --MORE-- |
