ACTS 13 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul FOR the work whereunto I have called them. 5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of GOD in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister. 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called FOR Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of GOD. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (FOR so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun FOR a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation FOR the people, say on. 16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear GOD, give audience. 17 The GOD of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it. 21 And afterward they desired a king: and GOD gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years. 23 Of this man's seed hath GOD according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: 26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth GOD, to you is the word of this salvation sent. 27 FOR they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. 30 But GOD raised him from the dead: 33 GOD hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. 36 FOR David, after he had served his own generation by the will of GOD, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: 37 But he, whom GOD raised again, saw no corruption. 41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: FOR I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. 43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of GOD. 44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of GOD. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of GOD should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 FOR so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be FOR salvation unto the ends of the earth. ACTS 14 15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living GOD, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of GOD. 26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of GOD FOR the work which they fulfilled. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that GOD had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. ACTS 15 4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that GOD had done with them. 6 And the apostles and elders came together FOR to consider of this matter. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago GOD made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And GOD, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 10 Now therefore why tempt ye GOD, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders GOD had wrought among the Gentiles by them. 14 Simeon hath declared how GOD at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people FOR his name. 18 Known unto GOD are all his works from the beginning of the world. 19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to GOD: 21 FOR Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. 26 Men that have hazarded their lives FOR the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 28 FOR it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced FOR the consolation. 40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of GOD. ACTS 16 3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: FOR they knew all that his father was a Greek. 4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees FOR to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us FOR to preach the gospel unto them. 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped GOD, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high GOD, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 21 And teach customs, which are not lawful FOR us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto GOD: and the prisoners heard them. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: FOR we are all here. 29 Then he called FOR a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in GOD with all his house. ACTS 17 13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of GOD was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people. 15 And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus FOR to come to him with all speed, they departed. 16 Now while Paul waited FOR them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. 20 FOR thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean. 21 (FOR all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) 23 FOR as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. 24 GOD that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men FOR to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 28 FOR in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, FOR we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of GOD, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. 30 And the times of this ignorance GOD winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: --MORE-- |
