GENESIS 32 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; FOR with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands. 11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: FOR I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. 12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered FOR multitude. 13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present FOR Esau his brother; 20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. FOR he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me. 22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the FORD Jabbok. 26 And he said, Let me go, FOR the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: FOR as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: FOR I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. GENESIS 33 10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: FOR therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me. 17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths FOR his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. 19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, FOR an hundred pieces of money. GENESIS 34 8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth FOR your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife. 14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; FOR that were a reproach unto us: 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; FOR the land, behold, it is large enough FOR them; let us take their daughters to us FOR wives, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only herein will the men consent unto us FOR to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised. GENESIS 35 18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (FOR she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. GENESIS 36 7 FOR their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle. GENESIS 37 7 FOR, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. 8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more FOR his dreams, and FOR his words. 17 And the man said, They are departed hence; FOR I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan. 27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; FOR he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. 28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites FOR twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt. 34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned FOR his son many days. 35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, FOR I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept FOR him. GENESIS 38 6 And Judah took a wife FOR Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar. 11 Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: FOR he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house. 14 And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; FOR she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife. 16 And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (FOR he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? GENESIS 39 5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house FOR Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. GENESIS 40 15 FOR indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon. 17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats FOR Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. GENESIS 41 8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called FOR all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh. 19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt FOR badness: 31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; FOR it shall be very grievous. 32 And FOR that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. 36 And that food shall be FOR store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine. 49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; FOR it was without number. 51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: FOR God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house. 52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: FOR God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. 55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh FOR bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do. 57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph FOR to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands. GENESIS 42 2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy FOR us from thence; that we may live, and not die. 4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; FOR he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him. 5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: FOR the famine was in the land of Canaan. 18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; FOR I fear God: 19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn FOR the famine of your houses: 23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; FOR he spake unto them by an interpreter. 25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision FOR the way: and thus did he unto them. 27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; FOR, behold, it was in his sack's mouth. 30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us FOR spies of the country. 33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food FOR the famine of your households, and be gone: 38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; FOR his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. --MORE-- |
