JOEL 2 1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: FOR the day of the LORD cometh, FOR it is nigh at hand; 3 A FIRE devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of FIRE that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: FOR his camp is very great: FOR he is strong that executeth his word: FOR the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: FOR he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 18 Then will the LORD be jealous FOR his land, and pity his people. 21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: FOR the LORD will do great things. 22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: FOR the pastures of the wilderness do spring, FOR the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. 23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: FOR he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down FOR you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and FIRE, and pillars of smoke. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: FOR in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. JOEL 3 1 FOR, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there FOR my people and FOR my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. 3 And they have cast lots FOR my people; and have given a boy FOR an harlot, and sold a girl FOR wine, that they might drink. 8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: FOR the LORD hath spoken it. 12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: FOR there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 13 Put ye in the sickle, FOR the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; FOR the press is full, the fats overflow; FOR their wickedness is great. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: FOR the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, FOR the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But Judah shall dwell FOR ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 FOR I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: FOR the LORD dwelleth in Zion. AMOS 1 3 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Damascus, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: 4 But I will send a FIRE into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. 6 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Gaza, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom: 7 But I will send a FIRE on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: 9 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Tyrus, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: 10 But I will send a FIRE on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. 11 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Edom, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath FOR ever: 12 But I will send a FIRE upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. 13 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: 14 But I will kindle a FIRE in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind: AMOS 2 1 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Moab, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: 2 But I will send a FIRE upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: 4 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Judah, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked: 5 But I will send a FIRE upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. 6 Thus saith the LORD; FOR three transgressions of Israel, and FOR four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous FOR silver, and the poor FOR a pair of shoes; 11 And I raised up of your sons FOR prophets, and of your young men FOR Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD. AMOS 3 2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you FOR all your iniquities. 5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is FOR him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? 10 FOR they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. AMOS 4 5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: FOR this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. 13 FOR, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. AMOS 5 3 FOR thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. 4 FOR thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live: 5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: FOR Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought. 6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like FIRE in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel. 8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth FOR the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name: 12 FOR I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right. 13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; FOR it is an evil time. 17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: FOR I will pass through thee, saith the LORD. 18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it FOR you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. 23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; FOR I will not hear the melody of thy viols. --MORE-- |
