2 SAMUEL 21 1 Then there was A famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites. 16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with A new sword, thought to have slain David. 18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again A battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant. 19 And there was again A battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, A Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like A weaver's beam. 20 And there was yet A battle in Gath, where was A man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. 2 SAMUEL 22 2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my FORTRESS, and my deliverer; 9 There went up A smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. 11 And he rode upon A cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind. 20 He brought me forth also into A large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me. 30 For by thee I have run through A troop: by my God have I leaped over A wall. 31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is A buckler to all them that trust in him. 32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is A rock, save our God? 35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that A bow of steel is broken by mine arms. 44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: A people which I knew not shall serve me. 2 SAMUEL 23 4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even A morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of A spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place. 10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought A great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. 11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into A troop, where was A piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. 12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought A great victory. 20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of A valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew A lion in the midst of A pit in time of snow: 21 And he slew an Egyptian, A goodly man: and the Egyptian had A spear in his hand; but he went down to him with A staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. 29 Heleb the son of Baanah, A Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, 2 SAMUEL 24 14 And David said unto Gad, I am in A great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man. 15 So the LORD sent A pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men. 23 All these things did Araunah, as A king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee. 24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at A price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. 1 KINGS 1 2 Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king A young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat. 3 So they sought for A fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag A Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 6 And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was A very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom. 42 And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art A valiant man, and bringest good tidings. 52 And Solomon said, If he will shew himself A worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die. 1 KINGS 2 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself A man; 4 That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) A man on the throne of Israel. 8 And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, A Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with A grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword. 9 Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art A wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood. 19 Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused A seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand. 42 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by the LORD, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for A certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good. 1 KINGS 3 4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: A thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. 5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in A dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him A son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but A little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, A great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great A people? 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee A wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was A dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made A feast to all his servants. 17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of A child with her in the house. 24 And the king said, Bring me A sword. And they brought A sword before the king. 1 KINGS 4 7 And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in A year made provision. 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were A thousand and five. 1 KINGS 5 1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever A lover of David. 7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David A wise son over this great people. 12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made A league together. 13 And king Solomon raised A levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand A month by courses: A month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy. --MORE-- |
