AMOS 3 4 Will A lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will A young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? 5 Can A bird fall in A snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up A snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? 6 Shall A trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in A city, and the LORD hath not done it? 12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or A piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of A bed, and in Damascus in A couch. AMOS 4 5 And offer A sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. 11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as A firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. AMOS 5 1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even A lamentation, O house of Israel. 3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by A thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. 12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take A bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right. 19 As if A man did FLEE from A lion, and A bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and A serpent bit him. 24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as A mighty stream. AMOS 6 10 And A man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD. 13 Ye which rejoice in A thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? 14 But, behold, I will raise up against you A nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. AMOS 7 4 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up A part. 7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the LORD stood upon A wall made by A plumbline, with A plumbline in his hand. 8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the LORD, Behold, I will set A plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: 12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, FLEE thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: 14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I A prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and A gatherer of sycomore fruit: 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in A polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land. AMOS 8 1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold A basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more. 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for A pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as A flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as A bitter day. 11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send A famine in the land, not A famine of bread, nor A thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: AMOS 9 1 I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not FLEE away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. 5 And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like A flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in A sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. OBADIAH 1 1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard A rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. 7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; that they eat thy bread have laid A wound under thee: there is none understanding in him. 12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became A stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress. 18 And the house of Jacob shall be A fire, and the house of Joseph A flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it. JONAH 1 3 But Jonah rose up to FLEE unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found A ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. 4 But the LORD sent out A great wind into the sea, and there was A mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. 16 Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered A sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. 17 Now the LORD had prepared A great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. JONAH 3 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city A day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed A fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. JONAH 4 2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art A gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. 5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him A booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. 6 And the LORD God prepared A gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be A shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. 7 But God prepared A worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared A vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. 10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in A night, and perished in A night: MICAH 1 4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down A steep place. 6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of A vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. 8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make A wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls. 14 Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be A lie to the kings of Israel. MICAH 2 2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress A man and his house, even A man and his heritage. 4 In that day shall one take up A parable against you, and lament with A doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields. 5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast A cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD. 10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with A sore destruction. 11 If A man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. --MORE-- |
