JUDGES 6 37 Behold, I will put a FLEECE of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the FLEECE only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the FLEECE together, and wringed the dew out of the FLEECE, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the FLEECE; let it now be dry only upon the FLEECE, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the FLEECE only, and there was dew on all the ground. JUDGES 9 26 And GAAL the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him. 28 And GAAL the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him? 30 And when Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of GAAL the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled. 31 And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, GAAL the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against thee. 35 And GAAL the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, from lying in wait. 36 And when GAAL saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men. 37 And GAAL spake again, and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim. 39 And GAAL went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech. 41 And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out GAAL and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem. 2 SAMUEL 15 12 And Absalom sent for AHITHOPHEL the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of AHITHOPHEL, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom. 15 Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did AHITHOPHEL counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled. 21 And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath AHITHOPHEL counselled against you. 23 And when AHITHOPHEL saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father. 2 SAMUEL 23 34 Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of AHITHOPHEL the Gilonite, 1 CHRONICLES 27 33 And AHITHOPHEL was the king's counsellor: and Hushai the Archite was the king's companion: 34 And after AHITHOPHEL was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king's army was Joab.
