DEUTERONOMY 1 28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is GREATER and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. DEUTERONOMY 4 38 To drive out nations from before thee GREATER and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day. 42 That the slayer might FLEE thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live: DEUTERONOMY 7 1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations GREATER and mightier than thou; DEUTERONOMY 9 1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations GREATER and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, 14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and GREATER than they. DEUTERONOMY 11 23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess GREATER nations and mightier than yourselves. DEUTERONOMY 18 4 The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the FLEECE of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. DEUTERONOMY 19 3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may FLEE thither. 4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall FLEE thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; 5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall FLEE unto one of those cities, and live: DEUTERONOMY 28 7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and FLEE before thee seven ways. 25 The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and FLEE seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. JOSHUA 8 5 And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will FLEE before them, 6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They FLEE before us, as at the first: therefore we will FLEE before them. 20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to FLEE this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers. JOSHUA 19 45 And Jehud, and Beneberak, and GATHRIMMON, JOSHUA 20 3 That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may FLEE thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. 4 And when he that doth FLEE unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. 9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might FLEE thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. JOSHUA 21 24 Aijalon with her suburbs, GATHRIMMON with her suburbs; four cities. 25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and GATHRIMMON with her suburbs; two cities. JUDGES 6 37 Behold, I will put a FLEECE of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the FLEECE only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the FLEECE together, and wringed the dew out of the FLEECE, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the FLEECE; let it now be dry only upon the FLEECE, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the FLEECE only, and there was dew on all the ground. And his name was Mephibosheth. 2 SAMUEL 13 15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was GREATER than the love wherewith he had loved her. But he would not hearken unto her. 2 SAMUEL 15 14 And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us FLEE; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. 2 SAMUEL 17 2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall FLEE; and I will smite the king only: 2 SAMUEL 18 3 But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we FLEE away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city. 2 SAMUEL 19 3 And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they FLEE in battle. 2 SAMUEL 24 13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou FLEE three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me. 1 KINGS 1 37 As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne GREATER than the throne of my lord king David. 47 And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne GREATER than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed. 1 KINGS 12 18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died.
