DEUTERONOMY 4 42 That the slayer might FLEE thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live: DEUTERONOMY 18 4 The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the FLEECE of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. DEUTERONOMY 19 3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may FLEE thither. 4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall FLEE thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; 5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall FLEE unto one of those cities, and live: DEUTERONOMY 28 7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and FLEE before thee seven ways. 25 The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and FLEE seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. DEUTERONOMY 32 18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that FORMED thee. JOSHUA 8 5 And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will FLEE before them, 6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They FLEE before us, as at the first: therefore we will FLEE before them. 20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to FLEE this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers. JOSHUA 20 3 That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may FLEE thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. 4 And when he that doth FLEE unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. 9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might FLEE thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. JUDGES 6 37 Behold, I will put a FLEECE of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the FLEECE only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the FLEECE together, and wringed the dew out of the FLEECE, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the FLEECE; let it now be dry only upon the FLEECE, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the FLEECE only, and there was dew on all the ground. JUDGES 20 32 And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us FLEE, and draw them from the city unto the highways. 2 SAMUEL 3 3 And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, ABSALOM the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; 2 SAMUEL 4 4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to FLEE, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth. 2 SAMUEL 13 1 And it came to pass after this, that ABSALOM the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. 4 And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother ABSALOM's sister. 20 And ABSALOM her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother ABSALOM's house. 22 And ABSALOM spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for ABSALOM hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar. 23 And it came to pass after two full years, that ABSALOM had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and ABSALOM invited all the king's sons. 24 And ABSALOM came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant. 25 And the king said to ABSALOM, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him. 26 Then said ABSALOM, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee? 27 But ABSALOM pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. 28 Now ABSALOM had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant. 29 And the servants of ABSALOM did unto Amnon as ABSALOM had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled. 30 And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, ABSALOM hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left. 32 And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of ABSALOM this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar. 34 But ABSALOM fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him. 37 But ABSALOM fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day. 38 So ABSALOM fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years. 39 And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto ABSALOM: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead. 2 SAMUEL 14 1 Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was toward ABSALOM. 21 And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man ABSALOM again. 23 So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought ABSALOM to Jerusalem. 24 And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So ABSALOM returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face. 25 But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as ABSALOM for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. 27 And unto ABSALOM there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance. 28 So ABSALOM dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face. 29 Therefore ABSALOM sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come. 30 Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And ABSALOM's servants set the field on fire. 31 Then Joab arose, and came to ABSALOM unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire? 32 And ABSALOM answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me. 33 So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for ABSALOM, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed ABSALOM. --MORE-- |
