AMOS 1 5 I will break ALSO the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD. AMOS 2 9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong AS the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. 10 ALSO I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. 13 Behold, I am pressed under you, AS a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. AMOS 3 12 Thus saith the LORD; AS the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch. 14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will ALSO visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground. AMOS 4 6 And I ALSO have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. 7 And ALSO I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. 11 I have overthrown some of you, AS God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were AS a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. AMOS 5 11 Forasmuch therefore AS your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them. 14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, AS ye have spoken. 16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the LORD, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such AS are skilful of lamentation to wailing. 19 AS if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 24 But let judgment run down AS waters, and righteousness AS a mighty stream. AMOS 7 6 The LORD repented for this: This ALSO shall not be, saith the Lord GOD. 12 ALSO Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: 15 And the LORD took me AS I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. AMOS 8 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly AS a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, AS by the flood of Egypt. 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it AS the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof AS a bitter day. AMOS 9 5 And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, AS by the flood of Egypt. 7 Are ye not AS children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir? 9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like AS corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. 11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it AS in the days of old: 14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall ALSO make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. OBADIAH 1 4 Though thou exalt thyself AS the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. 11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast AS one of them. 15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: AS thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head. 16 For AS ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be AS though they had not been. JONAH 1 14 Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done AS it pleased thee. JONAH 4 11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more then sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and ALSO much cattle? MICAH 1 4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, AS wax before the fire, and AS the waters that are poured down a steep place. 6 Therefore I will make Samaria AS an heap of the field, and AS plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. 8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning AS the owls. 16 Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness AS the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee. MICAH 2 8 Even of late my people is risen up AS an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely AS men averse from war. 12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together AS the sheep of Bozrah, AS the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. MICAH 3 3 Who ALSO eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, AS for the pot, and AS flesh within the caldron. 4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, AS they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. 12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed AS a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house AS the high places of the forest. MICAH 4 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee AS a woman in travail. 11 Now ALSO many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them AS the sheaves into the floor. MICAH 5 7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people AS a dew from the LORD, AS the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men. 8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people AS a lion among the beasts of the forest, AS a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver. 13 Thy graven images ALSO will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands. 15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such AS they have not heard. MICAH 6 13 Therefore ALSO will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins. MICAH 7 1 Woe is me! for I am AS when they have gathered the summer fruits, AS the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. 4 The best of them is AS a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. 10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down AS the mire of the streets. 12 In that day ALSO he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. 14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, AS in the days of old. --MORE-- |
