LAMENTATIONS 1 1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become AS a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary! 15 The LORD hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the LORD hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, AS in a winepress. 17 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is AS a menstruous woman among them. 20 Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is AS death. 22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, AS thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint. LAMENTATIONS 2 4 He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand AS an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire. 5 The LORD was AS an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. 6 And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, AS if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. 7 The LORD hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, AS in the day of a solemn feast. 12 They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they swooned AS the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers' bosom. 22 Thou hast called AS in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD's anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed. LAMENTATIONS 3 6 He hath set me in dark places, AS they that be dead of old. 10 He was unto me AS a bear lying in wait, and AS a lion in secret places. 12 He hath bent his bow, and set me AS a mark for the arrow. 45 Thou hast made us AS the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people. LAMENTATIONS 4 2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed AS earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! 6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown AS in a moment, and no hands stayed on her. 14 They have wandered AS blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments. 17 AS for us, our eyes AS yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us. LAMENTATIONS 5 3 We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are AS widows. 21 Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days AS of old. EZEKIEL 1 1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, AS I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof AS the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 10 AS for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. 13 AS for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned AS the appearance of a flash of lightning. 15 Now AS I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. 16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was AS it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 18 AS for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. 22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was AS the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. 24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, AS the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, AS the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, AS the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness AS the appearance of a man above upon it. 27 And I saw AS the colour of amber, AS the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw AS it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28 AS the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. EZEKIEL 3 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth AS honey for sweetness. 9 AS an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. 23 Then I AROSE, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, AS the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face. EZEKIEL 4 12 And thou shalt eat it AS barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. EZEKIEL 5 11 Wherefore, AS I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity. EZEKIEL 7 17 All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak AS water. 20 AS for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them. EZEKIEL 8 1 And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, AS I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. 2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness AS the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, AS the appearance of brightness, AS the colour of amber. EZEKIEL 9 10 And AS for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head. 11 And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done AS thou hast commanded me. EZEKIEL 10 1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them AS it were a sapphire stone, AS the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 5 And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, AS the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh. 9 And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was AS the colour of a beryl stone. 10 And AS for their appearances, they four had one likeness, AS if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. 11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not AS they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not AS they went. 13 AS for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. --MORE-- |
