PSALM 15 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up A reproach against his neighbour. 4 In whose eyes A vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. PSALM 19 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set A tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as A bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as A strong man to run A race. PSALM 57 4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue A sharp sword. 6 They have prepared A net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged A pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. PSALM 61 3 For thou hast been A shelter for me, and A strong tower from the enemy. PSALM 91 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against A stone. PSALM 108 PSALM 112 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. PSALM 150 PROVERBS 7 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, A young man void of understanding, 10 And, behold, there met him A woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone A long journey: 20 He hath taken A bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed. 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as A fool to the correction of the stocks; 23 Till A dart strike through his liver; as A bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life. PROVERBS 19 1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is A fool. 5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape. 6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is A friend to him that giveth gifts. 9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish. 10 Delight is not seemly for A fool; much less for A servant to have rule over princes. 11 The discretion of A man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over A transgression. 12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of A lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass. 13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of A wife are A continual dropping. 14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and A prudent wife is from the LORD. 15 Slothfulness casteth into A deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. 19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again. 21 There are many devices in A man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. 22 The desire of A man is his kindness: and A poor man is better than A liar. 24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. 25 Smite A scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge. 26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is A son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach. ECCLESIASTES 8 1 Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of A thing? A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. 4 Where the word of A king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou? 5 Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and A wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. 9 All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is A time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt. 12 Though A sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as A shadow; because he feareth not before God. 14 There is A vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity. 15 Then I commended mirth, because A man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. 17 Then I beheld all the work of God, that A man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though A man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though A wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it. JEREMIAH 10 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth A tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is A doctrine of vanities. 13 When he uttereth his voice, there is A multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. 19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is A grief, and I must bear it. 22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and A great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and A den of dragons. JEREMIAH 42 2 And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but A few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:) 5 Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be A true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. 18 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and A curse, and A reproach; and ye shall see this place no more. JEREMIAH 49 2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be A desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD. 5 Behold, I will bring A fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth. 13 For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become A desolation, A reproach, A waste, and A curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. 14 I have heard A rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle. 17 Also Edom shall be A desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. 18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall A son of man dwell in it. 19 Behold, he shall come up like A lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is A chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? 22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of A woman in her pangs. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as A woman in travail. 27 And I will kindle A fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad. 30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived A purpose against you. 32 And their camels shall be A booty, and the multitude of their cattle A spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD. 33 And Hazor shall be A dwelling for dragons, and A desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it. --MORE-- |
